Three Romantic Comedies for Girls Night Out Movie Watching

Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but we all know getting the urge to watch a good romantic comedy is a year-round possibility—especially in the wake of the most romantic day of the year. So, whether you prefer gathering with your girlfriends at a Gainesville movie theater or staying in to watch a feel-good flick, you can always find a way to satisfy your rom-com craving.

See What’s New at Our Favorite Movie Theater in Gainesville

Always check to see what the local Gainesville movies situation is. New romantic movies are released all the time, so find out if something interesting is playing near you. The Photograph, which was released on Valentine’s Day this year may be slightly more drama than comedy, but the romance is all there. Don’t miss your chance to see it on the big screen at our favorite movie theater in Gainesville: Regal Celebration Pointe 10 & RPX.

Go alone or round up your crew! But either way, don’t forget about the great restaurants you can walk to from the cinema before and after the show, including MidiCi, The Keys and Miller’s Ale House.

Not Up for the Trip to a Gainesville Movie Theater? Have a Rom-Com Marathon of Your Own

Sometimes you just want to stay in and binge to get your feel-good fix. If it’s that kind of night, grab some takeout from Hana Sushi or sweets from Kilwins and try these three romantic comedies that are sure to entertain, whether you watch them one at a time or back to back to back.

1. The Big Sick (2017)

This is one of the best recent films of any genre, and it’s based on the real-life, cross-cultural relationship of the movie’s two writers, Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, during which Gordon comes down with a mysterious illness. It’s heartfelt and hilarious all in one, and as Rotten Tomatoes points out, “[It] proves the standard rom-com formula still has some fresh angles to explore.”

2. He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)

A big-screen adaptation of a best-selling self-help book, He’s Just Not That Into You explores one of the most unfortunate phenomena of the dating world: mixed signals. The characters and their dilemmas feel relatable. Also, everyone is in this movie—like everyone. Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Scarlett Johansson are just a few of the big-name cast members.

3. Love Actually (2003)

Now that we’re on the subject of star-studded romantic comedies, we have to mention Love Actually. Billed as “The Ultimate Romantic Comedy,” this movie involves more than a dozen main characters and at least as many subplots. Most of the characters’ stories collide in funny and heartwarming ways during the holiday season, which means this movie can double as a feel-good holiday film. Definitely check it out if you haven’t yet.

Want to get out to a Gainesville Movie Theater? You can celebrate love all year long at Regal Celebration Pointe 10 & RPX. If you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy, or if you just want to see what’s playing so you can plan a fun night out with friends or family, view available movie times here.
