Going Green in Gainesville: Infotech’s Class A Office Space in Celebration Pointe

While the Summer Olympics have been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to highlight a business in Celebration Pointe’s Tech Park that went for the gold—and won it—in something other than sports: environmentally conscious construction of Class A office space at Infotech.

Infotech is a leader in infrastructure construction that creates software solutions and provides expert litigation consulting services. Celebration Pointe is proud to have Infotech as a tenant in our Class A office space, and we’re even prouder of them for their commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

Infotech Won Gold for Going Green

The U.S. Green Building Council established the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system to encourage construction and architectural practices that contribute to the health and well-being of individuals and communities. By accumulating points for making green choices, construction projects can earn one of four rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

Infotech’s building, which completed construction in May 2017 is the first private building in Gainesville to earn the Gold designation. The only other two organizations that have achieved LEED Gold are the University of Florida and the City of Gainesville.

Environmentally Conscious Features Reduce Infotech’s Carbon Footprint

Embracing environmental, economic and community sustainability is in the corporate DNA of Infotech. The company has been bridging innovation and integrity since its inception, and it works because they put people over profit.

The following are just a few of the green design and operational features that will benefit Infotech employees and this community for years to come:

  • Green Roof.

The highly reflective material of the building’s 2,400-square foot roof reduces the microclimate impact on surrounding life.

  • Solar Power.

A solar installation also sits on the roof, producing an estimated 20% of the facility’s electricity without any byproduct of air pollution or hazardous waste. In 2018, the installation was responsible for saving the equivalent of 227,014 pounds of CO2 emissions. You would have to plant about 5,700 trees to achieve similar CO2 savings.

  • Green Transportation.

The layout encourages green commuting by offering plenty of bike storage and reserved parking for electric vehicles and hybrids. Additionally, the facility is less than one mile from a Regional Transit System (RTS) public transportation bus station.

  • Water Conservation.

Low-flow fixtures decrease the company’s impact on the city’s water supply and wastewater, reducing usage by 35% when compared to the baseline model. Plus, drought-tolerant plants, which rely on precipitation once established, make up the landscaping in, around and on the roof of the facility, reducing irrigation needs.

  • Employee Views.

The LEED ranking system takes indoor environmental quality into account as well. And 93% of Infotech employees have access to outside views from their desks while 79% experience natural daylight at their workspace.InfoTech's Class A Office Space in Celebration Pointe

We applaud Infotech for putting their social responsibility values into practice in Celebration Pointe’s Tech Park. As our city reopens and workers safely return to their offices, one thing is certain: Infotech employees will be returning to a Gold-standard, Class A office space that puts the community first.
