The world’s leading sports and fitness brand is making its way to Gainesville, bringing its iconic swooshes to a new store right off Interstate 75.
Representatives of Celebration Pointe, one of Gainesville’s newest major retail developments, announced Monday morning that Nike Factory Store will be an anchor tenant.
Ralph Conti, a Celebration Pointe development partner, said in a news release that Nike’s addition to the development will not only add to retail offerings but will enrich the overall Celebration Pointe patron experience.
“We are pleased to welcome this iconic retailer to Celebration Pointe,” Conti said.
Celebration Pointe spokesman Phillip Bergman could not release the store’s projected square footage as of Monday morning, but the buildout of the Nike store is underway, with an expected spring opening, Bergman said.
Several attempts via email and phone to reach Nike Media Relations for comment were unsuccessful.
Nike will join Bass Pro Shops and Regal Cinemas on the development’s growing list of high-profile tenants.
In November 2016, Bass Pro was the first opening in the 160-acre Celebration Pointe development, which is planned to have more than 1 million square feet of mixed-use development, including retail, restaurant, entertainment, office, hotel, townhome and apartment space. It is accessible from Southwest 45th Street off of Archer Road and the new overpass over Interstate 75 connecting to Butler North.
Gainesville’s third Regal theater is scheduled to open at Celebration Pointe early this year — sometime before April, Bergman said. The Regal Entertainment Group 51,588-square-foot theater will feature 10 screens with RPX technology, king-size recliners with padded footrests and a lobby complete with a full bar and lounge.
Another tenant, Hotel Indigo, a six-story, 140-room, 92,000-square-foot hotel, is being built in Tech Park at Celebration Pointe, adjacent to office space for Gainesville software company Info Tech. The hotel is expected to open sometime in late summer.
Other announced Celebration Pointe retailers and restaurants, according to the development’s website, include spas like The Nail Spa and Azulene Day Spa, retailer Uniform Destination, which sells scrubs and other medical uniforms, and eateries like Rascal Flatts Bar and Grill, Reggae Shack Cafe, Liquid Ginger, MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company, Miller’s Ale House and Kilwins Quality Confections. None of these retailers or restaurants have confirmed open dates.
